Just how little we know Earth and it mysterious ways is exemplified by a lake simple vanishing within two months.

Attempts must be made to ascertain what caused this vanishing act?

No earthquake activity has been reported in the region. Something is amiss. The earth opening up and swallowing a lake without the seismographs recording no earth movements is astonishing.

Glacial Lake Outburst , a phenomenon not unknown in highlands is one possibility about the lake waters draining out suddenly. But that should have caused massive damage downstream where the still waters suddenly gushed to.
